Income tax is progressive from 5% to 30%. A single filer has a JOD 10,000 exemption (JOD 9,000 personal plus JOD 1,000 expense allowance); families up to JOD 23,000. Employees pay 7.5% social security up to a monthly wage of JOD 3,349. Taxable income above JOD 200,000 carries a 1% national contribution tax. No wealth or inheritance tax; VAT is 16%.

Residence is via annual permits based on work or investment; there is an investor route (golden visa) and even a citizenship-by-investment programme. Ordinary naturalisation, however, is very difficult for non-Arabs.
