Foreigners generally may not own property, with very limited exceptions.

Cost of living and quality of life

High purchasing power and safety, but an extreme climate (summers above 50 degrees), sandstorms and an alcohol ban.

Why people move to Kuwait

  • 0% income tax and high purchasing power

No income tax, no social contributions for expats and no VAT; gross pay is net pay.

  • Kafala system and no property for foreigners

Residence depends entirely on your employer, foreigners may own virtually no property and the climate is extreme.

Honest trade-offs
