Chad taxes income on a territorial basis: only Chad-source income is taxed, foreign income in principle is not. The IRPP is progressive up to 30 percent, with the top rate applying from about XAF 12 million. Including 3.5 percent CNPS, the effective burden is around 25 percent on income worth roughly EUR 54,000. VAT is 18 percent and corporate tax 35 percent. The currency, the CFA franc (XAF), is fixed to the euro at 655.957. Note: Chad faces severe political instability, coups and serious security threats, and ranks among the poorest countries in the world.

Residency and visas
Residency runs through work, investment or business permits. Bureaucracy is slow and legal certainty limited.

Cost of living and quality of life
Sahel and Sahara climate around Lake Chad, an oil economy and a low cost base, but heavy security and infrastructure risks.
Passport and mobility
The Chadian passport is weak (around rank 52) and offers little visa-free access. International connections run mainly through N'Djamena.
Why people move to Chad
Territorial system and euro peg
Foreign income in principle stays untaxed and the CFA franc is fixed to the euro at 655.957, giving exchange-rate stability within the eurozone band.
Low cost base in an oil economy
The cost of living is low and oil drives parts of the economy, although wealth is very unevenly distributed.
Honest trade-offs
